’Supply of sugar at the rate of Rs.40/kg will be ensured’: Shahbaz

LAHORE: A high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in Murree today in which representatives of Punjab Sugar Mills Association also participated. A number of decisions were taken in the meeting for supply of sugar to the people at the fixed rate. The meeting decided to double the supply of sugar to all districts of the province from 1800 metric tons to 3600 metric tons. It was also decided that Sugar Mills Association will supply sugar bags of one and two kg each in Sunday and Friday bazaars. According to the decision of the meeting, the crushing season will be started from November 15 in the province at any cost for bringing fresh production of sugar in the market. The Chief Minister while speaking on the speakingsaid that supply of sugar to the people at the rate of Rs.40/kg will be ensured at any cost. He appreciated the cooperation of Sugar Mills Association in this regard. He said that the elements indulging in hoarding of essential items deserve no leniency. He directed administration to initiate stern action against the hoarders of sugar and other articles of daily use. Provincial Minsiter for Food Malik Nadeem Kamran, President Punjab Sugar Mills Association Javed Kiani, Haroon Akhtar and Secretaries Food and Industries participated in the meeting. End.
